The 1st XI had a disappointing year being relegated from Division 1.

Despite this there were still a lot of positives with new player Jim Berry (360 runs) establishing himself as a talented opening batsman alongside fellow young keeper/opener Walker (403 runs) and Goldsworthy and George Dale (both 23 wickets a piece) showing exceptional promise with the ball and as a partnership of Dale’s aggression and Goldsworthy’s control.

The theme running through all these players and the squad in general is how young it is with great potential to turn into a top-tier side. Despite only recording two league wins, the side pushed some of the top sides in a number of fixtures and were unlucky to not pick up maximum points on a number of occasions.

There was also a number of individual highlights with Rooney and Berry both scoring excellent 1st XI league hundreds, Walker scoring 4 league 50s and George Dale and Goldsworthy taking 3 five-fors between them.

The squad looks forward to next year and building on the strong team morale and experience gained this year to come back stronger and with more success.
